Pico and the First Tree

Pico discovers the little doorway between a great tree's roots.

The story moment

From Pico's height, the first tree looked bigger than a mountain. Its roots made tunnels across the path. Riyu crouched beside him. Pico stepped under one root and found a smooth acorn waiting there. He rolled it into the light. A mountain with a tiny doorway! He knew where to look next.

What would you look for near the roots?

You don’t have to answer.

Read the story moment aloud if your child wants, then look at the picture together before coloring: who is there, what is happening, what is hiding near the edge. Every question is optional, and your child chooses every color.

About the book

Printing

Print single-sided on A4 or US Letter paper and choose “Fit”, centered. Each page is a square design with its own white margin, so there is nothing to trim. Crayons and colored pencils work well. Using markers? Place a spare sheet underneath.
