Rinwa and the Crooked Stars

Pico's little wooden block helps Rinwa try a new place for a crooked star lantern.

The story moment

Rinwa's newest star lantern leaned to one side. She turned a gear. It leaned the other way. Pico climbed onto a wooden block and peered underneath. Then he slid the block beneath the stand. The star sat straight at last. Rinwa tilted her head at it. Perhaps the next star could hang sideways.

Where would you hang a star lantern?

You don’t have to answer.

Read the story moment aloud if your child wants, then look at the picture together before coloring: who is there, what is happening, what is hiding near the edge. Every question is optional, and your child chooses every color.

About the book

Printing

Print single-sided on A4 or US Letter paper and choose “Fit”, centered. Each page is a square design with its own white margin, so there is nothing to trim. Crayons and colored pencils work well. Using markers? Place a spare sheet underneath.
